Outstanding Society Contribution Award 2025
The Outstanding Society Contribution Award recognises the valuable work undertaken by all of our volunteers, whilst highlighting the outstanding contribution provided by one or more members.
This year’s award was presented during the BSSS Annual Conference to Dr Danni Robb.ÌýDanni has been a member of the Society for several years and in this time, has made a significant contribution to supporting Early Career members. Within her first year of joining BSSS as an EC member, Danni organised an event at Cranfield University to celebrate World Soils Day (2022), bringing her passion for soils to an interdisciplinary audience and raising awareness of BSSS to Cranfield students. Danni then went straight to chair position when joining the EC Committee.
Alongside her responsibilities as chair, she was very active on the EC social media pages – posting news, job adverts and items of interest, increasing the visibility of BSSS online. She has been key in generating events tailored to benefit EC members such as online viva workshops, and in-person conference workshops. Danni was also the driving force behind bringing the soil judging competition to life, an event aimed at increasing knowledge and skills primarily in early career scientists around soils and also providing a networking opportunity with professional soil scientists. Danni has been very passionate and committed to supporting Early Career members ever since joining the society and is a worthy recipient of the OSCA.
Congratulations Danni!
