In this webinar, Prof. Jonathan Storkey, agroecologist at Rothamsted Research, and Dr. Jenny Bussell, Principal Scientist at The Allerton Project, discuss Perspectives on Regenerative Farming. The webinar was organised in partnership with BSSS Corporate member, Rothamsted Research.

Prof. Jon Storkey is an agroecologist with a background in sustainable weed management. He has been following with interest the growth in regenerative farming practices and is interested in how the concept can be defined and the benefits quantified. He is leading on a new long-term trial at Rothamsted that is monitoring the effect of reduced tillage, organic amendments and crop diversification on soils, crops and biodiversity.

Jonah Prout will also be presenting with Jon. Jonah is a postdoctoral researcher at Rothamsted Research, with a focus on soil carbon. He is currently working with and further developing the Rothamsted soil carbon turnover model (RothC). Jonah’s PhD investigated SOC/clay ratio as a metric for assessing soil carbon status of agricultural soils, linked to soil structure.

Dr Jenny Bussell is a soil scientist with a background in greenhouse gas emissions soil health and carbon sequestration. Jenny currently runs the agri-environmental research at the Allerton Project, which includes agroforestry, bio-stimulants, biochar and a long-running trial on both the profitability and soil health aspects of regenerative farming.
