My colleague and I are both undertaking a Soil Science MSc Apprenticeship at Cranfield University, through our employer, and so we decided to run a World Soil Day (5th Dec) event at the office with the help of a soil box from BSSS.
The first half of the session consisted of a presentation that we made ourselves, about the importance and intricacies of soil, as well as a case study of what happens when good soil management practices aren鈥檛 followed.
The second half of the session involved getting colleagues interacting with soil activities such as 鈥淪oil as a Sponge鈥, hand texturing, and a short quiz.
Colleagues said that the hands-on activity was their favourite part of the day as they rarely get to interact with or learn about soil in their day-to-day work. They appreciated being able to take handouts and info sheets home to refer back to. I would recommend a BSSS Soil Box!
